The Martelão FC fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Martelão FC's Dorival Fontes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Martelão FC's Jorginho Saldanha got a free kick in the 9th minute. In the 12th minute Hílton de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlindo Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 minutes, Hílton de Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tocantinea AD and the Martelão FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Tocantinea AD booed when Martelão FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorginho Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Zanette received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Orlando Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The wind increased when Telmo Prado made the kick off in the second half. The Tocantinea AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Orlando Marques should have stopped the shot. When Jaime Velasco came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Martelão FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Velasco couldn't finish the play. If Ezequiel Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ezequiel Ceresso got free with Orlando Marques in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Martelão FC's Dorival Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Toninho Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Ronaldo Pena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlindo Santos was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. When the final whistle sounded Martelão FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Tocantinea AD.
