The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Jonizo's Váldson de Godoi got a free kick in the 14th minute. Gilvan Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelinho de Sousa having to interfere. In the 18thth minute of the game Renatinho Lopes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mariapopolis's Diguinho Paiva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Jonizo's zone, Gilvan Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelinho de Sousa came out of the goal and Gilvan Maia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Váldson de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 24 minutes into the game, Maicon Terra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mariapopolis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jonizo the free kick. A collision led to Mariapopolis getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Maicon Terra hit a great ball. In the 25th minute Charles do Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diguinho Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charles do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rdth minute of the game Renatinho Lopes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mariapopolis's Diguinho Paiva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renatinho Lopes in the 35th minute of play forced Mariapopolis's goalkeeper Diguinho Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Jonizo's Renatinho Lopes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diguinho Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Mariapopolis booed when Jonizo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederico Brodel didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Samuca Saraiva fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jonizo's protests and gave Samuca Saraiva a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Jonizo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Marcelinho de Sousa, was totally fooled by Mariapopolis's Durval Domingues, who 43 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a rather tough play, Jonizo's Váldson de Godoi got a free kick in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Jonizo's zone, Dorian Garcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelinho de Sousa came out of the goal and Dorian Garcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dinei Tinoco hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Wilson Gaspar kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Isaltino Recife hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After 65 minutes of play Jonizo's Váldson de Godoi was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Maicon Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelinho de Sousa having to interfere. Renatinho Lopes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Maicon Terra came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Mariapopolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maicon Terra couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Dorian Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mariapopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but Dorian Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelinho de Sousa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dorian Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelinho de Sousa having to interfere. Jonizo's Marcelinho de Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorian Garcia in the 96th minute of play.
