The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Claudinho Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 13 minutes into the game, Anísio Castro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FrangoMal FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gorino the free kick. Anísio Castro hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Virgílio Soeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FrangoMal FC's Fabinho Palmeira got a free kick in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Soeiro in the 22nd minute of play forced FrangoMal FC's goalkeeper Brasil Penta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute José Vítor de Brito suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Belmiro Souza during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 23 played minutes FrangoMal FC got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Souza. After having played for 24 minutes, Virgílio Soeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gorino's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgílio Soeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Claudinho Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gorino's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinho Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brasil Penta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Virgílio Soeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brasil Penta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Carlos Augusto Capixaba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gorino's Virgílio Soeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donato Passos kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. When Carlos Augusto Capixaba came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the FrangoMal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Augusto Capixaba couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, FrangoMal FC's Osvaldo Pitta got a free kick in the 39th minute. It was beautiful to see Gorino's Donato Passos in action when he in the 40th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Fabinho Palmeira charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabinho Palmeira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Gorino booed when FrangoMal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabinho Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Gorino's Virgílio Soeiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brasil Penta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Gorino's zone, Cássio Donatello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruninho Moura came out of the goal and Cássio Donatello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

51 minutes into the match, Gorino's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Donatello came free, but Bruninho Moura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jano Linhares hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute Cássio Donatello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruninho Moura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The attack was good, but when Virgílio Soeiro in the 59th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After 73 played minutes Aílton de Amaral rounded FrangoMal FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. With a little luck, FrangoMal FC's Brasil Penta got control of the ball when Virgílio Soeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Virgílio Soeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Brasil Penta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 94 minutes, Virgílio Soeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gorino's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgílio Soeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th minute, Claudinho Berger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
