The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Defensores de Savóia booed when Guarani Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fiori Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 5th minute of the match, Jairo Cardozo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cipriano Torres saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 8 minutes into the match, Defensores de Savóia's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Cardozo came free, but Cipriano Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fiori Andrade took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cipriano Torres. Cipriano Torres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Defensores de Savóia's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Cardozo came free, but Cipriano Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vitório da Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Guarani Futebol Clube booed when Defensores de Savóia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murilo Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cipriano Torres made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Fiori Andrade sent off a good shot on target. Durval Zanette hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Cipriano Torres made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fiori Andrade in the 39th minute. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Jairo Cardozo took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Cipriano Torres to make any attempt to save it. In the 46th minute, Guarani Futebol Clube's Laerte Carneiro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cipriano Torres. Cipriano Torres yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jairo Cardozo to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Defensores de Savóia got a freekick which was hit by Diego Vidal. The crowd rose to their feet as Célio Cruz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dráuzio Netto. That made the score 3-1 in the 56 minute of play. Cipriano Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fiori Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 63 minutes into the match, Diego Vidal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dráuzio Netto. Guarani Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Vidal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Célio Cruz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the game, Guarani Futebol Clube's Fiori Andrade nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cipriano Torres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fiori Andrade in the 77th minute of play forced Defensores de Savóia's goalkeeper Cipriano Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 78 minutes of play, Guarani Futebol Clube's Jairo Cardozo made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cipriano Torres was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dráuzio Netto was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Célio Cruz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-3 in the 82 minute of play. After 85 played minutes Guarani Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Goiano. Edu de Amaral might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dráuzio Netto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edu de Amaral ran back to his position shaking his head. Defensores de Savóia's Cipriano Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Carneiro in the 88th minute of play. Vitório da Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the Guarani Futebol Clube players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
