But to his dismay, Tony Lopes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Falcão Carvalho might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilton Recife. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Falcão Carvalho ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Tony Lopes put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Wilton Recife. In the 25th minute Ciro Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilton Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciro Fernandez took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilton Recife. Wilton Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The supporters of Vermelhinha FC booed when Carumu FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gláuber Borges struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Luís Fernando Paulista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vermelhinha FC. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gláuber Borges stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ivo Tavares kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Vermelhinha FC's Hamílton Cosme managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Sebastião do Nascimento in the 55 minute of the game. In the 59th minute, Ciro Fernandez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carumu FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. After a rather tough play, Vermelhinha FC's Elano Trevisan got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 70th match minute, Carumu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastião do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. Carumu FC's Christiano Pontes got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 85 played minutes Vermelhinha FC got a freekick which was hit by Bebeto Linares. Wilton Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Fernandez, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The supporters of Carumu FC booed when Vermelhinha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vermelhinha FC's Wilton Recife proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Vermelhinha FC from getting a goal against them. When the match was over Carumu FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Vermelhinha FC throughout the match.
