After 9 minutes, Laerte Carneiro made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Defensores de Savóia's Cipriano Torres tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Laerte Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Cipriano Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Vidal in the 19th minute of play forced Guarani Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Dráuzio Netto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 23 played minutes Defensores de Savóia got a freekick which was hit by Edu de Amaral. Jairo Cardozo took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cipriano Torres. Cipriano Torres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Guarani Futebol Clube's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Célio Cruz scored to the left of an out of position Dráuzio Netto, making the score, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fiori Andrade in the 33rd minute of play forced Defensores de Savóia's goalkeeper Cipriano Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Vitório da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the game, Guarani Futebol Clube's Fiori Andrade nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cipriano Torres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Vitório da Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Jairo Cardozo made the kick off in the second half. Defensores de Savóia's Cipriano Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Cardozo in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Falcão Goiano notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Defensores de Savóia's Cipriano Torres. Cipriano Torres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guarani Futebol Clube's Dráuzio Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Vidal in the 66th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jairo Cardozo in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cipriano Torres saved Defensores de Savóia from getting behind. Cipriano Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Cardozo in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Célio Cruz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dráuzio Netto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. After 75 played minutes Defensores de Savóia got a freekick which was hit by Diego Vidal. When Guarani Futebol Clube's Laerte Carneiro in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Defensores de Savóia's goalie prevented a goal. Jairo Cardozo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cipriano Torres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Cipriano Torres came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Guarani Futebol Clube's Laerte Carneiro. But to his dismay, Laerte Carneiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-6. 91 minutes into the game, Falcão Goiano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cipriano Torres. Falcão Goiano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-7. 96 minutes into the match, Guarani Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Célio Cruz came free, but Dráuzio Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 97 played minutes Defensores de Savóia got a freekick which was hit by Vitório da Silva.
