Darley Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The supporters of Guarda SS booed when Fumbica FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noel Valle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benedito Netto lost his temper 11 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fumbica FC! After some careless play in the Fumbica FC defense, Elano Arce kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Darley Taffarel. The Fumbica FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Darley Taffarel should have stopped the shot. In the 24th minute Aldo Tofani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darley Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Guarda SS's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Terra came free, but Eduardo Ramalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Darley Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Aldo Tofani sent off a good shot on target. Darley Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by André Luiz Netto in the 36th minute. A collision led to Fumbica FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. José Augusto Sarmento hit a great ball. José Augusto Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Ramalho having to interfere. Noel Valle's late challenge caught a Guarda SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Noel Valle helped the player get up and apologised.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aldo Tofani to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Aldo Tofani put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Darley Taffarel. Darley Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Darley Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Luiz Netto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Darley Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aldo Tofani's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Zülfikar Atlas took a quick shot and it went in 6-2 without a chance for Eduardo Ramalho to make any attempt to save it. José Augusto Sarmento struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Eduardo Ramalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fumbica FC. 96 minutes into the match, Fumbica FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aldo Tofani came free, but Darley Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guarda SS were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Fumbica FC for a fine match.
