Spectators: 7540 (Terracing: 5700, Seating: 1700, VIP seats: 140) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. João Adolfo Cosme started the match with the kick off. João Adolfo Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléber Rossi having to interfere. Rony Britto charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rony Britto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rony Britto kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. A collision led to Assacaio getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Betinho Falcão hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betinho Falcão in the 15th minute of play forced Grêmio's goalkeeper Romelio Ibaute to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grêmio's Romelio Ibaute played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betinho Falcão in the 16th minute of play. If João Adolfo Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 21 minutes into the match, Yuri de Castro notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Assacaio's Kléber Rossi. Kléber Rossi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. João Adolfo Cosme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Kléber Rossi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tales Batista charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tales Batista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 played minutes Assacaio got a freekick which was hit by Tales Batista. In the 28th minute, Grêmio's João Adolfo Cosme ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kléber Rossi. Kléber Rossi yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When João Adolfo Cosme came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Grêmio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Cosme couldn't finish the play. Grêmio's Romelio Ibaute played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fabiano Ramos in the 36th minute of play. Betinho Falcão took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Romelio Ibaute. Romelio Ibaute dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Cosme in the 42nd minute of play forced Assacaio's goalkeeper Kléber Rossi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tales Batista was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 44 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Assacaio's Tales Batista got a free kick in the 44th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Rony Britto made the kick off in the second half. João Adolfo Cosme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 55th minute, João Adolfo Cosme made a precise shot to the right of Kléber Rossi. Assacaio's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Rony Britto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Romelio Ibaute tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Fabiano Ramos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Rony Britto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Baltazar Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio's supporters rose to their feet, but Baltazar Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kléber Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If João Adolfo Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Yuri de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio's supporters rose to their feet, but Yuri de Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kléber Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. César Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. João Adolfo Cosme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Kléber Rossi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Assacaio's zone, Yuri de Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Rossi came out of the goal and Yuri de Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Assacaio's Teodoro Pombal shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 88th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Romelio Ibaute but with some difficulty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Betinho Falcão got free with Romelio Ibaute in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grêmio fully deserved thier win.
