Zula Siekierski had several of the Paulo Afonso's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 3 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Breno Castro as he didn't even see the shot coming. With a little luck, Paulo Afonso's Breno Castro got control of the ball when Andrés Moro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 15 played minutes Paulo Afonso got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Simão. In the 19th minute of the match Eliseu Hermes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zeca Pitta showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Gressa FC booed when Paulo Afonso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Andrés Moro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Breno Castro. Paulo Afonso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andrés Moro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The Paulo Afonso fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Paulo Afonso's Fred da Cunha looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Zeca Pitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred da Cunha in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zula Siekierski in the 46th minute of play forced Paulo Afonso's goalkeeper Breno Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute of the match Gressa FC got a corner. Paulo Afonso's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Andrés Moro ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well done corner resulted in Cássio Maia drilling the ball in to score 3-2 behind Paulo Afonso's goalkeeper. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

After a defensive mix-up in Paulo Afonso's zone, Dênis Cerezo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Breno Castro came out of the goal and Dênis Cerezo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Breno Castro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zula Siekierski's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Nuno Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeca Pitta having to interfere. In the 68thth minute of the game Fred da Cunha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gressa FC's Zeca Pitta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Paulo Afonso booed when Gressa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Valadares didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zula Siekierski in the 80th minute of play forced Paulo Afonso's goalkeeper Breno Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Paulo Afonso defense, Zula Siekierski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Breno Castro. The Paulo Afonso fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Breno Castro should have stopped the shot. In the 88th minute Dênis Cerezo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Breno Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breno Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dênis Cerezo in the 93rd minute of play. In the 97th minute, Zula Siekierski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Breno Castro was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. There was no doubt that Gressa FC were the better team. Gressa FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
