After 5 played minutes Trahira got a freekick which was hit by Fiori Bezerra. In the 7th minute, Jeferson Custódio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Paulo Afonso's Fred da Cunha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rubens Ferraz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Cacá Damião had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Breno Castro. Paulo Afonso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cacá Damião was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Nilmar Pombal hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Jeferson Custódio took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rubens Ferraz. Rubens Ferraz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Emerson Sousa charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emerson Sousa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Paulo Afonso booed when Trahira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emerson Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fred da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubens Ferraz having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Trahira's Nilmar Pombal got a free kick in the 37th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Trahira's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Simão came free, but Rubens Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Fred da Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Ferraz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred da Cunha struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Rubens Ferraz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paulo Afonso. The Trahira players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Paulo Afonso were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cacá Damião made a kick off. Rubens Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fred da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cacá Damião took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Breno Castro. Breno Castro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Breno Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cacá Damião in the 73rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Fred da Cunha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rubens Ferraz. That made the score 2-3 in the 76 minute of play. In the 80th minute, Jeferson Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Paulo Afonso's goalkeeper Breno Castro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rubens Ferraz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred da Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. 90 minutes into the game, Paulo Afonso's Fred da Cunha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rubens Ferraz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson Simão in the 94th minute of play forced Trahira's goalkeeper Rubens Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, Gugu Pirani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Paulo Afonso walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
