With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baltazar Sanches in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hortêncio Gonçalves saved Praia Grande MZC from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Luiz Soares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Serginho Dracena. That made the score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Luiz Soares's late challenge caught a Cubatão FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Soares helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Praia Grande MZC's Luiz Soares got a free kick in the 18th minute. Praia Grande MZC's Hortêncio Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando Neto in the 25th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Cubatão FC's goal looked a bit too open when Prosper Lebraud came free, but Serginho Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cubatão FC's Serginho Dracena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Cubatão FC from getting a goal against them. Renan Penha walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Augusto Pinheiro to strike the kick off in the second half. If Prosper Lebraud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the game, Marcel de Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Praia Grande MZC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cubatão FC the free kick. After 65 played minutes Praia Grande MZC got a freekick which was hit by Marcel de Mendonça. When Renan Penha came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Cubatão FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Renan Penha couldn't finish the play. Serginho Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prosper Lebraud, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Luiz Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Serginho Dracena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Cubatão FC's Nando Neto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hortêncio Gonçalves. Hortêncio Gonçalves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. With a little luck, Praia Grande MZC's Hortêncio Gonçalves got control of the ball when Augusto Pinheiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Claudio Borghi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
