Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Wiliam Souza made the kick off and thus started the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iuri Gerber in the 3rd minute of play forced Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Paulo Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iuri Gerber in the 7th minute of the match. In the 11th minute, Zé Carlos Vidal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cantao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Zé Paulo Esteves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sebastião Leão in the 15th minute. Tião Lara charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tião Lara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Iuri Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Carlos Vidal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 29th minute Iuri Gerber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Paulo Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cantao's zone, Wiliam Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisão Botelho came out of the goal and Wiliam Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Iuri Gerber 35 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iuri Gerber to strike the kick off in the second half. Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iuri Gerber in the 52nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iuri Gerber in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Paulo Esteves saved Vasco da Gama from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Vasco da Gama's Luisão Botelho threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wiliam Souza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wiliam Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute, Iuri Gerber left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cantao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Zé Paulo Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iuri Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute, Iuri Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Iuri Gerber's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Paulo Esteves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Zé Carlos Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Cantao getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Waldemar Pernambucano hit a great ball. Zé Paulo Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Paulo Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iuri Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Vasco da Gama's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Vidal came free, but Zé Paulo Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 82 played minutes Cantao got a freekick which was hit by Tião Lara. Luisão Botelho made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Wiliam Souza sent off a good shot on target. Vasco da Gama were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Cantao's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cláudio Meira took the corner. The corner ended in Cláudio Meira almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Cantao's Luisão Botelho did a great save. Wiliam Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisão Botelho having to interfere. In the 90th match minute, Cantao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Pernambucano to maneuver through the defense. The Cantao fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vasco da Gama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
