After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Zé Carlos Vidal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cantao's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Carlos Vidal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Paulo Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zé Paulo Esteves was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. In the 36th minute, Zé Carlos Vidal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cantao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Wiliam Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Paulo Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Carlos Vidal in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wiliam Souza to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Wiliam Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vasco da Gama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wiliam Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Cantao's Sebastião Leão got a free kick in the 54th minute. Wiliam Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisão Botelho having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iuri Gerber in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Paulo Esteves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 79th minute Wiliam Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisão Botelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Cantao's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Torres came free, but Luisão Botelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute, Zé Carlos Vidal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zé Carlos Vidal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Zé Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Tião Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Vasco da Gama supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cantao's performance. The match ended with a win for Cantao.
