When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Válter Furtado took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Rui Neto to make any attempt to save it. The POLIARENA fans' excitement grew in the 11th match minute when POLIARENA's Giuseppe Pontes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of POLIARENA booed when Arabela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Arabela's zone, Giuseppe Pontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cipriano Catarinense came out of the goal and Giuseppe Pontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the game, one of Arabela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for POLIARENA. Filipe de Souza stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Cipriano Catarinense. 1-2. Giuseppe Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cipriano Catarinense having to interfere. In the 25th match minute, Arabela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fernando Simões to maneuver through the defense. In the 27th minute, Filipe de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rui Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Guilherme Diniz, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, POLIARENA's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Guilherme Diniz came free, but Rui Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. POLIARENA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juninho do Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leandro Branco kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Guilherme Diniz to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arabela's goalkeeper Cipriano Catarinense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rui Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Álvaro Souza in the 59th minute of play. Cipriano Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juninho do Nascimento in the 81st minute of play forced Arabela's goalkeeper Cipriano Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Álvaro Souza's late challenge caught a POLIARENA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
