He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Fabian Barthez. Fabian Barthez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Antônio Carlos Paraense in the 13th minute. 15 minutes into the game, João Francisco Koehler cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Nildo Urbano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Bala Halls had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, João Francisco Koehler made a precise shot to the right of Nildo Urbano. ITUMBIARA E.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. João Francisco Koehler struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Nildo Urbano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rodeiro. In the 35th match minute, Rodeiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Eliseu Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabian Barthez having to interfere. Nildo Urbano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Francisco Koehler, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Nildo Urbano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bala Halls's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. In the 59th minute Antônio Carlos Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabian Barthez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the match, Rodeiro's goal looked a bit too open when Váldson Maciel came free, but Fabian Barthez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antônio Carlos Paraense in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabian Barthez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in ITUMBIARA E.C.'s zone, João Francisco Koehler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nildo Urbano came out of the goal and João Francisco Koehler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to ITUMBIARA E.C. getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Luiz Eduardo Leão hit a great ball. Pedrinho Peres's late challenge caught a Rodeiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedrinho Peres helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st match minute, ITUMBIARA E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrinho Peres to maneuver through the defense. Bala Halls sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 82 played minutes Rodeiro got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Augusto Alcântara. João Francisco Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Urbano having to interfere. A hard shot 87 in the game by Bala Halls from a close distance when the talented Nildo Urbano managed to make a qualified save. ITUMBIARA E.C.'s players were relieved. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Rodeiro eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
