Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dudu de Senna in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Valdir Braga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edmundo Neves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdir Braga having to make a save. Fabiano Antunes made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Elano Queiroz sent off a good shot on target. After 39 played minutes, A. D. CONFIANÇA's Edmundo Neves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valdir Braga came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in A. D. CONFIANÇA reached it. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind A. D. CONFIANÇA's goalkeeper Fabiano Antunes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in A. D. CONFIANÇA's zone, Didi de Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabiano Antunes came out of the goal and Didi de Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Elano Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vasco Da Gama's protests and gave Elano Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Vasco Da Gama's Elano Queiroz got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Fabiano Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nildo de Mendonça in the 51st minute of play. Fabiano Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elano Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the A. D. CONFIANÇA defense, Edgard Marinho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabiano Antunes. The A. D. CONFIANÇA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabiano Antunes should have stopped the shot. Fabiano Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didi de Lima in the 82nd minute of play. Elano Queiroz might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fabiano Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elano Queiroz ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Vasco Da Gama getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Silas Correia hit a great ball. Vasco Da Gama's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
