Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Edgard Marinho started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, Renatinho Vides ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valdir Braga was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Wolves's Renatinho Vides got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bo Lindberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute, Ulisses Nunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vasco Da Gama's Valdir Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wojciech Nienajadlo in the 21st minute of play. Valdir Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Jurăscu, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 29 played minutes Wolves got a freekick which was hit by Davi Mendonça. Renatinho Vides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Valdir Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When João Francisco Dias fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vasco Da Gama's protests and gave João Francisco Dias a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vasco Da Gama getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. João Francisco Dias hit a great ball. Vasco Da Gama's Valdir Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renatinho Vides in the 34th minute of play. Renatinho Vides hit a great ball. 44 minutes into the game, Wolves's Emil Jurăscu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valdir Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emil Jurăscu to make the kick off. 61 minutes into the game, Wolves's Wojciech Nienajadlo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valdir Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco Da Gama's zone, Wojciech Nienajadlo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdir Braga came out of the goal and Wojciech Nienajadlo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wojciech Nienajadlo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 67 played minutes Vasco Da Gama got a freekick which was hit by João Francisco Dias. Silas Correia charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silas Correia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th minute, Silas Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Bo Lindberg in the 70th minute really tested Valdir Braga's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 70th match minute, Vasco Da Gama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guga Pontes to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Emil Jurăscu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Valdir Braga, passed just outside the right post. In the 81st minute, Edgard Marinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vasco Da Gama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Emil Jurăscu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wolves's supporters rose to their feet, but Emil Jurăscu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdir Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Vasco Da Gama getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Guga Pontes hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Wolves eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
