The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Humberto Cruz fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Azevedo SS's protests and gave Humberto Cruz a yellow card for diving instead. Humberto Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After 5 minutes, Régis de Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Azevedo SS and the A. D. CONFIANÇA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Azevedo SS getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Régis de Mendonça hit a great ball. Fabiano Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Cruz in the 9th minute of play. Raphael Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger Leme in the 14th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Azevedo SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arlindo Varela to maneuver through the defense. Alexandre Diniz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raphael Coutinho having to make a save. In the 20th minute Alexandre Diniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raphael Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A. D. CONFIANÇA's Roger Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vítor Pimenta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fabiano Antunes came out and tried to block the shot, but Vítor Pimenta slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 27th minute. CONFIANÇA's Roger Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jerônimo Motta's late challenge caught a Azevedo SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jerônimo Motta helped the player get up and apologised. Jerônimo Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Régis de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. After a rather tough play, A. D. CONFIANÇA's Jerônimo Motta got a free kick in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vítor Pimenta made a kick off. Lino Britto kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Régis de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabiano Antunes having to interfere. A. D. CONFIANÇA's Roger Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vítor Pimenta might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fabiano Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vítor Pimenta ran back to his position shaking his head. Jerônimo Motta scored 1-1 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Raphael Coutinho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 74 minutes into the game, Ian Barbosa threw the ball into play from the sideline. A. D. CONFIANÇA's Diguinho Paes quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raúl Mesquita got free with Raphael Coutinho in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lino Britto charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 82nd minute of the match, Roger Leme tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Raphael Coutinho saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Fabiano Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vítor Pimenta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Vítor Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Azevedo SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor Pimenta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabiano Antunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 89th minute Vítor Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabiano Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A. D. CONFIANÇA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
