Azevedo SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leonor Futebol Clube the free kick. 10 minutes into the game, Azevedo SS's Vítor Pimenta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélio Gonçalves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Régis de Mendonça during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cido Miranda in the 22nd minute of play forced Azevedo SS's goalkeeper Raphael Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Azevedo SS's Humberto Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Azevedo SS's Humberto Cruz in the 34th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Hélio Gonçalves was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Leonor Futebol Clube through an amazing save. Hélio Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Régis de Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 44 minutes, Cido Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leonor Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cido Miranda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Mazinho Alves fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Azevedo SS's protests and gave Mazinho Alves a yellow card for diving instead. Mazinho Alves kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Humberto Cruz made a kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Leonor Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Vítor Pimenta came free, but Hélio Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cido Miranda's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Raphael Coutinho skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hélio Gonçalves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Cruz in the 60th minute of the match. Hélio Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Cruz in the 62nd minute of play. If Jarbas Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jarbas Maia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute, Cido Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vítor Pimenta might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hélio Gonçalves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vítor Pimenta ran back to his position shaking his head. Raphael Coutinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cido Miranda's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. There was no doubt that Azevedo SS were the better team. Azevedo SS's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
