If Arthur de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rafa Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arthur de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Abel Ferraz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafa Marinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Anísio Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafa Marinho having to interfere. The supporters of GAVIÕES F.C booed when Cotinguiba AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oswaldo Maranhense was the one to do the kick off. Osvaldo Loyola hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute of the match David Hermes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafa Marinho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 56th minute, Arthur de Brito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 66th minute, Arthur de Brito fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arthur de Brito got free with Rafa Marinho in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Cotinguiba AD's zone, Arthur de Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafa Marinho came out of the goal and Arthur de Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Vicente Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GAVIÕES F.C's protests and gave Vicente Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, GAVIÕES F.C's Vicente Queiroz got a free kick in the 81st minute. 84 minutes into the game, Tostão Prado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cotinguiba AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GAVIÕES F.C the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cotinguiba AD's Tostão Prado got a free kick in the 84th minute. If Anísio Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Leme in the 90th minute of play forced Cotinguiba AD's goalkeeper Rafa Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over GAVIÕES F.C could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cotinguiba AD throughout the match.
