A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ediberto Cerezo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardinho de Mendonça having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Dadá de Andrade's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernardinho de Mendonça was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Bernardinho de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clóvis Catarinense in the 41st minute of play forced Efigenia's goalkeeper Marcel de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Conrado Sanches recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adilson Melo to strike the kick off in the second half. Augusto Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clóvis Catarinense got free with Marcel de Brito in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Vitoria booed when Efigenia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Augusto Gaspar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcel de Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Vitoria's Adilson Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
