The throw-in from Abel de Lara in the 5th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Umbrella Futebol Clube's Victor Donatello. 6 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Cordeiro came free, but Guga Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walmir Borges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Angelsø in the 9th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, Henrique Andrade dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guga Tavares, 1-0. Guga Tavares was a little too slow when Henrique Andrade got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 2-0. Henrique Andrade who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Guga Tavares when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Guga Tavares successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Walmir Borges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Siqueira in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Tony Angelsø ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Walmir Borges was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 40 minutes into the game, Henrique Andrade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Umbrella Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexilhão F. C. the free kick. A collision led to Umbrella Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Henrique Andrade hit a great ball. Umbrella Futebol Clube's Victor Donatello quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Nelson Pirani, made in the 42nd minute of the game. Guga Tavares made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Henrique Andrade sent off a good shot on target. In the 45th minute Umbrella Futebol Clube were awarded a corner. Claudinei Falcão went to the cornerflag to take it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tony Angelsø to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Pedrão Mello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 56 minutes into the match, Henrique Andrade notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Mexilhão F. C.'s Guga Tavares. Guga Tavares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guga Tavares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Henrique Andrade went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. 65 minutes into the match, Anaia Barba dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Walmir Borges, 5-2. Umbrella Futebol Clube's Wágner Cordeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 77th minute, Henrique Andrade left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Umbrella Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-2. 80 minutes into the game, Umbrella Futebol Clube's Henrique Andrade nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guga Tavares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-2. 83 minutes into the match, Umbrella Futebol Clube's Henrique Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guga Tavares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Umbrella Futebol Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Claudinei Falcão in the 84th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Mexilhão F. C.'s goalie and right to Glauco Quadros. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Mexilhão F. C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 88 played minutes Umbrella Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Wágner Cordeiro. Mexilhão F. C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
