Nando Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sobhy Paredes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Betinho de Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Sobhy Paredes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manhuacu. In the 50th minute, João Augusto Neiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sobhy Paredes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
E.C.Pelotas's Wilhelm Rolfsson was substituted for Nando Vides. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfonso Leon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. It was a penalty for E.C.Pelotas! Sobhy Paredes went to the wrong direction when Haroldo Leite was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Manhuacu fully deserved thier win.
