Fausto Vander's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Agostinho Mendonça read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Fausto Vander notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça. Agostinho Mendonça was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Magno Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Soulis Papadopoulos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Agostinho Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Vander, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. S.E.Bangu's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Chiquinho de Queiroz in the 14th minute. After taking down the ball on S.E.Bangu's corner Luan de Lara fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Agostinho Mendonça quite easily take care of the ball. In the 16th minute, Benê Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Israel Segundo was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 16th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Magno Pinheiro put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Soulis Papadopoulos. Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chiquinho de Queiroz in the 31st minute of play. If Chiquinho de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agostinho Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chiquinho de Queiroz in the 39th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute, Fausto Vander got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute, Chiquinho de Queiroz made a precise shot to the right of Agostinho Mendonça. Nova Descoberta - RN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Magno Pinheiro to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Nova Descoberta - RN's Benjamim Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Soulis Papadopoulos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fausto Vander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Magno Pinheiro took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Soulis Papadopoulos. Soulis Papadopoulos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Benjamim Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Nova Descoberta - RN's André Luís de Queiroz got a free kick in the 96th minute. With a little luck, Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça got control of the ball when Fausto Vander tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nova Descoberta - RN's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
