When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fernandão Loyola made a kick off. Juan Velloso made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Laércio Damião sent off a good shot on target. Edmílson Catarinense might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdir Pérez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmílson Catarinense ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Duarte do Vale during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Oranil booed when União Verde FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
