Paulo Tróia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerônimo Fantini's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Paulo Tróia came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Clube União Popular's Rômulo Donato. But to his dismay, Rômulo Donato quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Rômulo Donato kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Benedito Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd match minute, Bola FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benjamin Carioca to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute of the match Hugo Moreno sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Tróia skillfully saved the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Percy Vergílio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clube União Popular's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bola FC the free kick. In the 24th minute, Percy Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cacá Guerra during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cacá Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Rafael Mello hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. When Benjamin Carioca came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Bola FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benjamin Carioca couldn't finish the play. In the 35th match minute, Clube União Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franklin Hermes to maneuver through the defense. Laércio Couto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Amorim having to interfere. Paulo Tróia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Vergílio in the 42nd minute of play. If Jerônimo Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 52nd minute Gilmar Dante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Percy Vergílio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Tróia having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerônimo Fantini in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Tróia saved Bola FC from getting behind. Bola FC's Nilson Santana suffered a sore thigh after 60 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Percy Vergílio was shown his second yellow card after 60 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Bola FC made a substitution. Thiago Mattos replaced Nilson Santana. In the 62nd match minute, Clube União Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th minute Jerônimo Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Tróia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Clube União Popular booed when Bola FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Dante in the 78th minute of play forced Clube União Popular's goalkeeper Rodrigo Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Tróia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerônimo Fantini in the 89th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Clube União Popular walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
