In the 12th minute, Jarbas Vargas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Russe Athletic fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 19 minutes of play, Russe Athletic's Cipriano Duarte made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fellipe de Brito was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 22nd minute Leopoldo Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. One of Russe Athletic:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Squall FC:s goal. Eurico de Godoi had in the 51stth minute some difficulties stopping Almir Antunes's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 1-2 came in the 51st minute when Almir Antunes all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Eurico de Godoi. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Almir Antunes to strike the kick off in the second half.
