Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Akın Seccac might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matt Ryan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Akın Seccac ran back to his position shaking his head. 17 minutes into the game, Nikos Koutsomitras was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marília AC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave F.Salgado F.C. the free kick. In the 18th minute, Nikos Koutsomitras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, Marília AC's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Moreno came free, but Jacinto Loureiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matt Ryan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akın Seccac in the 21st minute of play. Akın Seccac took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Matt Ryan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Akın Seccac, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute, Paulão Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute F.Salgado F.C. were awarded a corner. Teodoro Moreno went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Ulryk Szel heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 41 minutes into the match, F.Salgado F.C.'s Teodoro Moreno sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Loureiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Schmidt in the 45th minute of play forced Marília AC's goalkeeper Jacinto Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teodoro Moreno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Abel Barros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Matt Ryan made a huge save. In the 64th minute, Teodoro Moreno made a precise shot to the right of Jacinto Loureiro. Marília AC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1.
