Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After 14 minutes, Yuri Dias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the THE MAYA and the Olímpico Blumenau FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th match minute, THE MAYA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yuri Dias to maneuver through the defense. Claudinho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Carlos Alves, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Manoel Schmidt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wellington Coutinho in the 23rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geraldo Gonçalves got free with Manoel Schmidt in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gernando Mineiro ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Olímpico Blumenau FC's César Prata to fire away a dangerous shot which Claudinho Taffarel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a little luck, Olímpico Blumenau FC's Manoel Schmidt got control of the ball when Wellington Coutinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Roberto Capixaba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Manoel Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Carlos Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wellington Coutinho to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Zé Carlos Alves could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Claudinho Taffarel however easily saved by the left post. In the 53rd minute of the match Olímpico Blumenau FC got a corner. THE MAYA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. In the 67th minute, Yuri Dias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Carlos Alves in the 69th minute of play forced THE MAYA's goalkeeper Claudinho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Carlos Alves in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claudinho Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Simão de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Manoel Schmidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
