With a little luck, Clube Atlético Paraense's Eusébio Monteiro got control of the ball when Zé Roberto Aguiar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zé Roberto Aguiar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Eusébio Monteiro made a huge save. Tostão Alagoano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jardel Britto, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. When Afligidos's Vitório Botelho in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Valdemar Lima ran over to the corner to take the kick. Afligidos's Tostão Alagoano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tarcisio Pimenta in the 30th minute of play. Afligidos's attentive Carlos Alberto Araújo managed to snatch the ball when Alejandro Goycoa made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. Vitório Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, one of Afligidos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Afligidos. 0-1 came in the 45th minute when Valdemar Lima all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Tostão Alagoano.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tarcisio Pimenta was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Afligidos's Vitório Botelho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eusébio Monteiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 72nd minute Vitório Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tarcisio Pimenta's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 73rdth minute, Tostão Alagoano skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 73 minutes, Tarcisio Pimenta made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Afligidos's Tostão Alagoano tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Eusébio Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Botelho in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th minute Zé Roberto Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afligidos's Carlos Alberto Araújo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Alejandro Goycoa in the 83 minute of the game. In the 83rd minute, Betinho Fernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusébio Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitório Botelho in the 84th minute of the match. 85 minutes into the game, Afligidos's Vitório Botelho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eusébio Monteiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The Afligidos fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Afligidos's Zé Roberto Aguiar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Roberto Aguiar in the 92nd minute of play forced Clube Atlético Paraense's goalkeeper Eusébio Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Afligidos booed when Clube Atlético Paraense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jardel Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clube Atlético Paraense made a substitution. Zé Pedro Machado replaced Tarcisio Pimenta. A collision led to Clube Atlético Paraense getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Jardel Britto hit a great ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
