Cambaratiba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nilton Martins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramón Pernambucano in the 41st minute of play forced Cambaratiba's goalkeeper Stanislaw Lichucki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilton Martins to make the kick off. Giovanni Schmidt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wellington Paraíba's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Cambaratiba's Eurico Camargo was substituted for Gil Xavier. Luiz Eduardo Soares made in the 86th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Enéas Passos immediately put the ball in play. Armandinho Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Cambaratiba's Stanislaw Lichucki got control of the ball when Enéas Passos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chants of Corinthians Paulistano echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Cambaratiba had held the ball for most of the match.
