An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélio Donatello in the 25th minute of play forced Club Athletico Paranaense's goalkeeper Robustiano Seme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robustiano Seme was out of position in the 32 minute of play, and Hélio Donatello capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hélio Donatello really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 35th minute of the match, Paulão Jacinto tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Robustiano Seme saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Robustiano Seme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hélio Donatello's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augusto do Vale to make the kick off. Robustiano Seme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélio Donatello in the 58th minute of play. After 58 minutes, Jaime Furtado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Athletico Paranaense and the 20 de Março FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Club Athletico Paranaense getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Jaime Furtado hit a great ball. When André Sörman came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the 20 de Março FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Sörman couldn't finish the play. In the 60th minute, Paulão Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 63 minutes, Hélio Donatello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 20 de Março FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélio Donatello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aytuğ Sabi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th match minute, 20 de Março FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélio Donatello to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the match, Xie Sheng Yan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Robustiano Seme. Club Athletico Paranaense's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xie Sheng Yan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. 20 de Março FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
