In the 17th minute of the match, Arnaldo de Sena tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cris Courtois saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Cris Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabinho dos Santos in the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Wambalamba FC defense, Fabinho dos Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cris Courtois. The Wambalamba FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cris Courtois should have stopped the shot. Club Athletico Paulistano's Acácio Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juarês Donato in the 23rd minute of play. After 23 minutes of play, Wambalamba FC's Juarês Donato made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Acácio Lara was left in no man's land by his defense there! Acácio Lara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Donato, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Acácio Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juarês Donato, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Club Athletico Paulistano's goal looked a bit too open when João Carlos Vianna came free, but Acácio Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Acácio Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Carlos Vianna in the 37th minute of play. In the 42nd minute of the match Club Athletico Paulistano got a corner. Wambalamba FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Saad Dar ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Club Athletico Paulistano's Saad Dar to fire away a dangerous shot which Cris Courtois despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Club Athletico Paulistano booed when Wambalamba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Wambalamba FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 45th minute. Penalty! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabinho dos Santos was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Wambalamba FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabinho dos Santos came free, but Cris Courtois reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Acácio Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juarês Donato in the 60th minute of play. Club Athletico Paulistano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabinho dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
