Through an outstanding action, after 8 minutes, Cipriano Catarinense successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 10th minute INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner. Mai Chuan went to the cornerflag to take it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roberto Almeida got free with Cipriano Catarinense in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 15th match minute, Demolidor de Campeões was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. João Carlos Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilton Linares in the 17th minute of play. Fred Valencia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Carlos Lucas came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Demolidor de Campeões's Murillo Coutinho. But to his dismay, Murillo Coutinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Fred Valencia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Nilton Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27thth minute of the game Nilton Linares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's João Carlos Lucas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nilton Linares in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Carlos Lucas saved INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA from getting behind. João Carlos Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murillo Coutinho in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to Demolidor de Campeões getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Emerson da Cunha was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 39 minutes into the match. After 39 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Demolidor de Campeões! Roberto Almeida could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Cipriano Catarinense made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Valencia in the 51st minute of play forced Demolidor de Campeões's goalkeeper Cipriano Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nilmar de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cipriano Catarinense having to interfere.
