Isaac Vedillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Generoso Felipillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, FEDEX's goalkeeper Elvio Gonzo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celedonio Nerio. After 21st play minutes Lúcio Aleixo shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Isaac Vedillo and just under the crossbar into goal. Dionisio Afonso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elvio Gonzo. FEDEX's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Acosta getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Dionisio Afonso hit a great ball. Acosta's Isaac Vedillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Aleixo in the 29th minute of play. Aureliano Jaunti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isaac Vedillo having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Quinito in the 36th minute of play forced FEDEX's goalkeeper Elvio Gonzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Celedonio Nerio sped through FEDEX's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Elvio Gonzo. In the 41st minute, Eduardo Quinito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute Eduardo Quinito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elvio Gonzo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

FEDEX's Aureliano Jaunti got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eduardo Quinito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Elvio Gonzo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Acosta booed when FEDEX was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Feliciano Moise didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, FEDEX's goal looked a bit too open when Celedonio Nerio came free, but Elvio Gonzo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Generoso Felipillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Isaac Vedillo having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Acosta's zone, Lúcio Aleixo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isaac Vedillo came out of the goal and Lúcio Aleixo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Celedonio Nerio in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elvio Gonzo saved FEDEX from getting behind.
