Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amancio Marques in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Melquiades Urdin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Urre in the 20th minute of play forced independiente's goalkeeper Giovanni Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of independiente booed when Astica AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovanni Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Urre, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Melquiades Urdin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Astica AFC had won after a very even match.
