The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Karmel during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ballester F.C. booed when El Garden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Karmel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Melquiades Artal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute, Angel Bikendi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The El Garden fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. El Garden's Angel Bikendi got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Adolfo Fernado came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the El Garden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adolfo Fernado couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Ernesto Jokin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Melquiades Artal in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Santos Inautzi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in El Garden's zone, Melquiades Artal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Santos Inautzi came out of the goal and Melquiades Artal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angel Bikendi in the 40th minute of play forced Ballester F.C.'s goalkeeper Roque Olando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Melquiades Artal kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Santos Inautzi. That made the score 1-1 in the 47 minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angel Bikendi was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, El Garden's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Jokin came free, but Santos Inautzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Fidel Goito fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 80th minute of the match Teodoro Matei sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santos Inautzi skillfully saved the ball.
