The audience was convinced that Enzo Cristofol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sergio Felipillo was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Enzo Cristofol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enzo Cristofol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Felipillo having to interfere. Juventud de Lanús's Herminio Paul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Txaran in the 25th minute of play. Enzo Cristofol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Juventud de Lanús's Herminio Paul got control of the ball when Prudencio Ceandro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Silverio Txomin hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. If Enzo Cristofol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 44 minutes, Rafael Efraim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juventud de Lanús's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Efraim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 46 minutes into the match, Enzo Cristofol notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Newells Old Boys's Sergio Felipillo. Sergio Felipillo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Victor Txaran made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Urbano Pacorro. Silverio Txomin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sergio Felipillo having to make a save. Enzo Cristofol could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Sergio Felipillo made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Rafael Efraim put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Sergio Felipillo. If Enzo Cristofol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, Juventud de Lanús's goal looked a bit too open when Prudencio Ceandro came free, but Herminio Paul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Silverio Txomin fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Juventud de Lanús's protests and gave Silverio Txomin a yellow card for diving instead. Silverio Txomin hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Juventud de Lanús's Enzo Cristofol dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Enzo Cristofols short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Sergio Felipillo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Urbano Pacorro during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 77 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Urbano Pacorro. If Rafael Efraim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sergio Felipillo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enzo Cristofol in the 80th minute. Enzo Cristofol blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sergio Felipillo having to make a save. Juventud de Lanús's Rafael Efraim was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 84th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Sergio Felipillo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enzo Cristofol in the 96th minute. Juventud de Lanús's Herminio Paul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Prudencio Ceandro in the 97th minute of play. The Newells Old Boys fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Juventud de Lanús were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
