After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Jacobo Lluis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Merlo's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacobo Lluis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Melquiades Seme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Armando Jenaro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Melquiades Seme was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Ignacio Montrelle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Merlo's supporters rose to their feet, but Ignacio Montrelle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 28th minute, Jacobo Lluis made a precise shot to the right of Melquiades Seme. El 99 FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Melquiades Seme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Jenaro in the 37th minute of the match. Melquiades Seme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacobo Lluis in the 39th minute of play. In the 44th minute of the match, Paulo Idacio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Albano Jobo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Amado Aresti to make the kick off. Ignacio Montrelle struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Melquiades Seme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Merlo. After having played for 54 minutes, Tomás Cristos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Merlo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomás Cristos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 58 minutes into the game, Jacobo Lluis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Melquiades Seme was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fernan Frisco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Melquiades Seme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teodoro Arias hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Jacobo Lluis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Fernan Frisco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Seme having to interfere. Fernan Frisco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fernan Frisco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Seme having to interfere. When Ignacio Montrelle came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Deportivo Merlo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ignacio Montrelle couldn't finish the play. Eleuterio Birila recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in El 99 FC's zone, Fernan Frisco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Melquiades Seme came out of the goal and Fernan Frisco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Jacobo Lluis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melquiades Seme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle sounded Deportivo Merlo left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than El 99 FC.
