In the 11th minute, VR 46's Bernabe Izel ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paulo Gabon. Paulo Gabon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Flavio Etxahun's late challenge caught a VR 46's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Flavio Etxahun helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of VR 46 booed when Tiaguas AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Etxahun didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anier Egun, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 20 played minutes Tiaguas AFC got a freekick which was hit by Amado Precioso. After 22 played minutes, VR 46's Anier Egun shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulo Gabon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in VR 46 reached it. Donato Aguirre didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Faustino Stephen went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Donato Aguirre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feliberto Padro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Tiaguas AFC's Paulo Gabon got control of the ball when Angel Lluques tried to sneak it across the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Faustino Stephen to strike the kick off in the second half.
