Honorio Maurin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Francis having to interfere. In the 10th minute Fulgencio Mosen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Aguirre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Berazategui booed when Club Atletico River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Francho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Berazategui's supporters rose to their feet, but Raul Bemabe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Aguirre breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fulgencio Mosen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vicente Aguirre was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Emilio Francho scored 1-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Santiago Francis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 77th match minute, Berazategui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquin Bertran to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fulgencio Mosen got free with Vicente Aguirre in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Emilio Francho's late challenge caught a Berazategui's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
