After 20 minutes of play, Maloyas's Mariano Vidal made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 45th minute, Norberto Ireno made a precise shot to the right of Alejandro Txilar. Maloyas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Norberto Ireno to make the kick off. Aaron Rufo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. If Norberto Ireno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Maloyas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. acapulco FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
