When Andres Beliran fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's protests and gave Andres Beliran a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Santos booed when Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andres Beliran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Simon Foro struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Luisito Che didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos. Luisito Che showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Tipi, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Carolo Quilo's late challenge caught a Santos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carolo Quilo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 21st minute, Carolo Quilo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amador Manni didn't quite understand what happened when in the 22 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Nestor Franco received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alfonso Lidon came out and tried to block the shot, but Nestor Franco slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 26th minute. Hipolito Harri took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luisito Che. Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 32 minutes into the game, Amador Manni was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ the free kick. After 34 played minutes Santos got a freekick which was hit by Desiderio Musko. In the 37th minute, Desiderio Musko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's goalkeeper Luisito Che, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's zone, Simon Foro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisito Che came out of the goal and Simon Foro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luisito Che showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Tipi, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Arnaldo Tipi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Arnaldo Tipi made the kick off in the second half. Simon Foro took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luisito Che. Luisito Che dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Santos's Alfonso Lidon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicasio Aztore in the 56th minute of play. Desiderio Musko kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's Nicasio Aztore got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's zone, Lino Bernaldo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisito Che came out of the goal and Lino Bernaldo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Santos's Simon Foro got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Primitivo Gutierrez hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Luisito Che was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Victor Llorenc. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Tipi in the 70th minute of play forced Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ's goalkeeper Luisito Che to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ booed when Santos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Bernaldo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luisito Che made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Tipi in the 79th minute of play. In the 88th match minute, Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celedonio Rodas to maneuver through the defense. Arnaldo Tipi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Luisito Che tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Santos's Arnaldo Tipi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luisito Che narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 95 minutes into the game, Arnaldo Tipi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luisito Che. Arnaldo Tipi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. The Olimpo de Bahia Blanca MZ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Santos were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
