A sloppy throw-in by Cosme Loreto in the 25th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Almirante Brown's Alfredo Nevada. After having played for 26 minutes, Christian Quintyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Almirante Brown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christian Quintyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Casimiro Gelacio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Jonathan Beat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Victorino Gelacio got a free kick in the 30th minute. The supporters of River Plate booed when Almirante Brown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Nevada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ignacio Iratzeder struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jonathan Beat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Almirante Brown. When Alfredo Nevada came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Almirante Brown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Nevada couldn't finish the play. River Plate's Jonathan Beat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casimiro Gelacio in the 41st minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Almirante Brown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Quintyn to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adan Dominguez was the one to do the kick off. One of Almirante Brown:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of River Plate:s goal. The referee gave River Plate a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. An unexpected shot in the 68th minute by Christian Quintyn got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Casimiro Gelacio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ignacio Iratzeder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Beat having to interfere. Camilo Gonsalvo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adan Dominguez in the 85th minute of the match. In the 94th minute of the match Arnoldo Montae sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Camilo Gonsalvo skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severiano Cristofor in the 98th minute of play forced Almirante Brown's goalkeeper Camilo Gonsalvo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. River Plate succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Almirante Brown had controlled the match.
