Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacobo Fresco to make the kick off. The referee showed Cleto Iago the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edelmiro Bermudez acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 97th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ladislao Iztal. When the referee ended the match the Sir Alex Gang players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
