Amado Quintyn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marco Chago went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Arnaldo Baumer spun around in front of the goal 31 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Matancilla FC's goal. 34 minutes into the match, Itacaruaré FC's Nestor Bernat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicolas Montay narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itacaruaré FC's Igor Gipuzkoa got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicolas Montay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Igor Gipuzkoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicolas Montay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgard Jago, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco Chago stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adolfo Niguel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 73 minutes, Diego Laffitte mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matancilla FC and the Itacaruaré FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th minute, Edgard Jago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matancilla FC's Nicolas Montay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Bernat in the 81st minute of play. If Arnaldo Baumer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 89 played minutes Matancilla FC got a freekick which was hit by Rolando Escobar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Igor Gipuzkoa in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicolas Montay prevented the ball from getting in the gole. There was no doubt that Itacaruaré FC were the better team. Itacaruaré FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
