Iker Rayman took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jaroslaw Kaider. Grasshopper FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Vinicio Fraco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in La Academia 's zone, Adrian Haimar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonzalo Abaunza came out of the goal and Adrian Haimar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute Vinicio Fraco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaroslaw Kaider saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in La Academia fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! In the 13th minute there was a penalty for Grasshopper FC. Federico Precioso stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gonzalo Abaunza. 1-0. Gogo Garaona hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. When Mateo Sindo fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Academia 's protests and gave Mateo Sindo a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes La Academia got a freekick which was hit by Mateo Sindo. With a little luck, La Academia 's Gonzalo Abaunza got control of the ball when Adrian Haimar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, La Academia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Donio to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 23 minutes, Federico Precioso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grasshopper FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Federico Precioso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Adrian Haimar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grasshopper FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrian Haimar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonzalo Abaunza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in La Academia 's zone, Adrian Haimar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonzalo Abaunza came out of the goal and Adrian Haimar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gonzalo Abaunza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Arias, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After a defensive mix-up in La Academia 's zone, Adrian Haimar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonzalo Abaunza came out of the goal and Adrian Haimar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, Grasshopper FC's David Arias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gonzalo Abaunza narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

An unexpectedly hard shot by David Arias in the 53rd minute of play forced La Academia 's goalkeeper Gonzalo Abaunza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Arias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Federico Precioso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee felt a red card was in order, 64 minutes into the game, when Alvaro Estavan put in a rough tackle. Alvaro Estavan kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. When Iker Rayman came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the La Academia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iker Rayman couldn't finish the play. Adrian Haimar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gonzalo Abaunza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Adrian Haimar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gonzalo Abaunza was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Edelmiro Soter kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Jaroslaw Kaider was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Iker Rayman. Gogo Garaona hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. A long shot from Iker Rayman in the 78th minute of play was well struck, but Jaroslaw Kaider made a really good save at the right post. When Adrian Haimar came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Grasshopper FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Haimar couldn't finish the play. If Adrian Haimar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Gonzalo Pierres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrian Haimar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gonzalo Abaunza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Grasshopper FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
