The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th minute of the match Bruno Hever shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marciano Gilen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 19thth minute of the game Javier Cordarin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballester FC's Feliberto Madaleno was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 21 minutes into the game, Leonel Harriet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.A. GABY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballester FC the free kick. The supporters of Ballester FC booed when C.A. GABY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonel Harriet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teo Eate recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 30 minutes into the game, Ballester FC's Teo Eate nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marciano Gilen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Javier Cordarin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute Javier Cordarin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Feliberto Madaleno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ballester FC's Feliberto Madaleno got control of the ball when Benigno Bernard tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Ballester FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Benigno Bernard came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the C.A. GABY fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benigno Bernard couldn't finish the play. Feliberto Madaleno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Javier Cordarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Javier Cordarin, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 61 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Feliberto Madaleno was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Teo Eate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Marciano Gilen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Eustaquio Jacindo came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Ballester FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eustaquio Jacindo couldn't finish the play. Abelardo Abaunza's late challenge caught a Ballester FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abelardo Abaunza helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to C.A. GABY getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Abelardo Abaunza hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Javier Cordarin managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.A. GABY's supporters rose to their feet, but Javier Cordarin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Feliberto Madaleno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eustaquio Jacindo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marciano Gilen having to interfere. Benigno Bernard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Feliberto Madaleno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teo Eate blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marciano Gilen having to make a save. Teo Eates short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Marciano Gilen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Ballester FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ballester FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
