Cristo Tebaldo came out of the goal and Amancio Orixe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Teofilo Godoy fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Taladro's protests and gave Teofilo Godoy a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes Taladro got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Godoy. After some careless play in the West Ham United defense, Fausto Ospin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Severino Mendebal. The West Ham United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Severino Mendebal should have stopped the shot. In the 37th minute, Armando Bastiaro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The West Ham United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. With an all-out effort, Taladro's Severino Mendebal threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Guido Unai, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. But to his dismay, Geronimo Jobo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-3. Severino Mendebal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geronimo Jobo in the 92nd minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Taladro had played much better football throughout.
