Spectators: 7163 (Terracing: 5406, Seating: 1657, VIP seats: 100) Esteve Erdiano started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the game, David Firmo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente Rey's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardiles the free kick. In the 3rd match minute, Independiente Rey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Firmo to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Arnass short, quick shot in the 5thth minute got Florentino Atauri to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Eliseo Pabla charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Pabla the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 played minutes Ardiles got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Pabla. Rolando Arnas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Florentino Atauri made a huge save. Independiente Rey's Esteve Erdiano got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florentino Atauri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esteve Erdiano in the 20th minute of play. Florentino Atauri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Esteve Erdiano in the 21st minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Ardiles's goalkeeper Florentino Atauri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rolando Arnas. Niceto Naldo took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Erubiel Opilano. Erubiel Opilano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Florentino Atauri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esteve Erdiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rolando Arnas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aristides Telo kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Esteve Erdiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florentino Atauri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Ardiles were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niceto Naldo made a kick off. Esteve Erdiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55th minute, Fermin Etxatxu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Erubiel Opilano, passed just outside the right post. Niceto Naldo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erubiel Opilano having to interfere. Florentino Atauri didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Esteve Erdiano went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Erubiel Opilano was a little too slow when Esteve Urtsua got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 1-2. After having played for 81 minutes, Esteve Erdiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente Rey's supporters crossed their fingers, but Esteve Erdiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Ardiles getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Aristides Telo hit a great ball. 92 minutes into the game, Rolando Arnas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Florentino Atauri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
